Abstract: The article examines the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation and individual regions under the Strategy for the development of the agro-industrial and fishery complexes until 2030. Based on data from Rosstat, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Rosselkhozbank, the Skolkovo Foundation and Agroexport for 2021–2025, the study analyses the dynamics of the share of agricultural organisations using artificial intelligence technologies, compares the sectoral structure of digitalisation costs, and identifies barriers and drivers of artificial intelligence diffusion at the regional level. Despite the growth of aggregate expenditures of agricultural organisations on digital technologies, the share of organisations using artificial intelligence has decreased from 3,1 % in 2021 to 1,9 % in 2024, while artificial-intelligence-based solutions are deployed in only 15 out of 72 regional public agro-industrial management units. The authors conclude that the introduction of artificial intelligence in the agro-industrial complex provides substantial growth potential for industry gross value added, provided that state support measures are differentiated by regional groups and a coherent digital infrastructure for sectoral management is developed.
