Abstract: Modern innovations should largely reflect the introduction of digital technologies in the agricultural sector. At the same time, the active development of modern, including digital technologies does not take into account a whole range of factors that can slow down the introduction and development of digital technologies, not only in agriculture, but also in the country's economy as a whole. The existing legal regulation regarding state support and regulation of digital technologies does not reveal the essence of these technologies and does not set clear, quantitative goals that must be achieved. In addition, constant discussions on the topic of digital technologies are usually not supported by analytical material, which is also a problem when assessing the effectiveness of both the use of digital technologies and their impact on the efficiency of agricultural production. This study examines the direction of development of digital technologies in agriculture, as well as some of the reasons that hinder the development of the digital economy; the reasons for the lack of sufficient effectiveness of scientific and technological policy are analytically justified.
