Abstract: The article deals with the formation of foreign trade in agri-food products. The authors analyze the main trends in the development of exports and imports of agricultural products and food in the world and in the Russian Federation, country and product specifics of domestic food exports. The study analyzes the competitiveness of wheat and poultry meat, which revealed that Russian wheat has a high potential and revealed comparative advantage in the world market, but domestic producers are not yet competitive in terms of poultry meat compared to the main world suppliers. The article emphasizes the relevance of improving agricultural export policy in the context of the unfolding global financial and economic crisis associated with the collapse of oil prices and the pandemic that has covered almost all countries and continents. The authors conclude that it is necessary to strengthen measures of state support for this direction, the development of export infrastructure, in particular financial infrastructure to increase export potential.
