Abstract: The article describes the state of the Russian cargo transportation industry in 2017. It was found that in all types of transport, freight turnover grew by 5.5‰; the main drivers were the increased export volumes of wheat and mineral fertilizers. The segments of grain transportation by rail, the transhipment of mineral fertilizers in the ports of the Baltic basin, the transhipment of grain in the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin showed the greatest dynamics. In the medium term, the continuation of the main trends of 2017 - the beginning of 2019 and a further increase in the volume of exports of wheat and mineral fertilizers are expected.
