Abstract: The objective of the study is to assess the results of updating the main production assets and their impact on the use of the production potential and the economy of the poultry sub-sector using a typical agricultural region as an example. The scientific novelty lies in the proposal and testing of a system of consolidated natural, cost, relative and specific indicators characterizing interrelated processes: updating the main production assets of poultry farms and the sustainability and efficiency of using the production potential of the sub-sector. The obtained results indicate an increase in the contribution of fixed assets to the implementation of the production potential and income of poultry farms: an increase in capital-labor ratio and capital profitability, positive changes in the indicators of capital productivity and capital intensity, the renewal coefficient, the success of investments in fixed assets, and the estimated amount of profit per ruble of the corresponding payments. A conclusion was made about the growth of energy efficiency of technological processes and improvement of biological safety parameters against the background of the growth of the number of livestock per poultry worker, the reduction of the share of labor costs in the cost structure and the growth of the average monthly salary. The reduction of labor intensity, sustainability and increase in the efficiency of using production potential due to the introduction of innovations in the fixed assets of enterprises in egg production, instability and negative dynamics in the production of poultry meat were revealed. The practical significance is presented in the application of the research results by government bodies in the course of assessing the results of the implementation of comprehensive state programs for the development of agricultural sectors, and by agribusiness specialists in assessing the priorities of innovative development and forecasting expected results.
