Abstract: In contrast to the classical traditional problems of optimizing the development of production of agricultural products, the proposed formulation of the problem focuses on two directions of development of export-oriented industries - grain farming and livestock farming, connected by the use of common resources. A principle is proposed for optimizing the volumes and directions (among possible ones) of the export of agricultural products and the import of high-tech equipment and biological resources for the agricultural sector in the context of sanctions from the European Union states. The calculation of the growth in prices for exports of grain and livestock products in cross-product and cross-country analysis was carried out in order to identify opportunities for growth of Russian exports. It is proposed to replace intuitive solutions obtained by the method of expert opinions without a strict quantitative comparison of the positive and negative aspects of each development option, by calculating their optimal ratio (or rejecting one of them) using the solution of an economic-mathematical problem of linear programming according to the criterion of maximizing national economic profits from grain exports and livestock products. Calculation of optimal parameters for two large-scale industries is less labor-intensive compared to the process of solving the problem of optimizing the development of the entire set of agricultural productions. It is also more acceptable compared to expert comparisons of development versions, since it is based on a mathematically correct assessment of development results and associated costs. This formulation and solution principle are applicable to a class of problems associated with the use of two-product optimization model algorithms.
